The PMC as many call it is closing in on the end of its OHL life, though nobody knows exactly how much time it has left. I want to get there at least a couple more times if I can, as it’s another rink I’ve always enjoyed going to games in ever since my first visit there, which was a last second road trip on a random Wednesday. It’s very easy to spot with its unique shape and being situated on one of the main strips in town. There are a couple smaller parking lots on site but you will have to pay.

Peterborough has one of the more unique rinks not just in the OHL but in the entire CHL, with 8 rows of seating on the sides and 26 rows at one end of the ice, with the other end being just suites. The big walls in Peterborough that you see on either side of the ice here used to be bare but recently the team along with the local (and very successful) lacrosse team the Lakers got new banners and have situated them on those bare walls which is a nice use of otherwise wasted space.

The benches are on opposite sides of the ice, and its one of the few rinks I can think of where ice level is actually higher up than not only street level but even the main concourse outside the bowl.

Obviously, you can’t talk about the PMC without mentioning the square as hell corners. Getting to this end of the building can be a bit of a chore, as the main concourse outside of the bowl only really goes about two thirds of the way down the building, then you have to use the moat between the seating and the glass. The side of the ice where the Petes’ bench is has the club seating area, and it’s a bit segregated unless you have a ticket for that section or wait till post-game like I did for this shot.

We don’t know how much time the PMC has left, recent smaller renos may have extended its life even further but the new rink rumblings have begun in the Liftlock City and if you haven’t been to a game there I highly recommend going.
