Arena Reviews

Back in high school, I was goofing around in tech class one day looking at arena pictures on the net when I found the OHL Arena Guide. It is a comprehensive review, complete with photos, of all 20 OHL arenas of the time (this was around 2005-2006). I had recently gotten into the OHL, and it made me want to visit all 20 myself one day, a goal I accomplished in October of 2009. Over the years I eventually became friends with the site admin Kevin Jordan, and we started traveling together once our goals became loftier than the OHL. Naturally, when I started getting to many different arenas, I formed my own opinions and wanted to write about them myself. I eventually made an account on Flickr and posted all my photos along with short reviews and thoughts in their captions. In making this website for the podcast, I realized I could expand on these thoughts and decided to dedicate a section of the website to my own arena reviews. I did not want to straight up copy Kevin’s model that he used for OHLAG which he eventually expanded into versions for the WHL and QMJHL. But at the end of the day, it’s hard to not have a similar format. In addition to my reviews of all the current CHL arenas, I have also included reviews of all the NHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, and provincial junior rinks where I have attended at least one game.
