Oh, it’s so 1970s! It’s so orange! A deceiving building, it looks much smaller on the outside than it is inside. The Brandt Centre is attached to a giant expo hall, as well as several other ice pads which were added much more recently. It also sits in the shadow of Mosaic Stadium, the massive home for the CFL’s most popular team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It’s a stadium so big it looks like it could host an NFL team. There are also acres of parking space, which even during the Memorial Cup was free.

Once inside the arena you find yourself in a low-ceilinged lobby which has a very well-stocked team store off to the side. You keep walking forwards and eventually find yourself in the main arena bowl. The layout in Regina is very similar to that of Red Deer and Lethbridge. There is a lower bowl that would be the size of a normal mid-sized CHL clone rink, while each side has a deck of seats up above. However, in an odd setup the two bowls merge into one continuous bowl of seats at the far end of the rink, much like you see at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland. At the opposite end of the ice there is very little seating, as the lower bowl seats wrap around into the end, but directly behind the net has no seating at all. Above the upper bowl in this end is a lot of open space where the team banners from their now 100+ years of history hang. While super 70s on the outside, the rink bowl has been maintained very well, with all new comfy seats as well as a giant new video scoreboard and sound system. Not to mention all the suites, not just along the sides, but at the top of the big end of seating behind one of the nets.
